Vacation Mode

Heimaey, the only populated island of the Vestmannaeyjar

Hi friends :^)

How are you?

Last month I went on this trip to an Icelandic island and I came back different. More grounded.

I don’t know if you also feel this but, when I’m near the ocean breeze, I feel that everything makes sense and I’m just… Connected,I feel calm.

It may have to do with the fact that when I’m near the ocean I’m on vacation so I behave like a person on vacation: spend time off the phone, cook more, take longer to leave the table after lunch because I’m talking to family members, go for walks with no purpose…

This trip got me thinking.
How can I make this feeling last?

What is it? The thing that brings me calm after all…

The color blue. Drawing alone while waiting for someone to arrive… Volcanos. Rocks. The ocean.

Playing the piano. My boyfriend. Watercolors. Green.

Walks in nature. Time spent with family. The ocean breeze.

Walks in nature over staying in my studio recording a podcast.
Time spent with family, over recording a video for youtube.

Playing the piano over drawing a new business card.
My boyfriend over online drawing dates.

Drawing alone while waiting for someone to arrive over scrolling.
Volcano trails, rocks to bring home over the city…

So I came back home and made these things, the things that bring me calm, my new priority over my ambitions…

After some weeks living like this, I realized that it is a lot like being on vacation mode.
Everything is on pause, like, all my ambitions are on pause.

But somehow, not my life.

Are ambitions the source of my stress?!

Well, a bit… If those ambitions are my priority at all times, yes! They cause a lot of stress :^/
Ambitions are something to focus on a phase in life and they can’t be a priority over the things that bring me calm.

See you in July :^)
