Illustration Book PROJECT #1

Hi everyone :^)

Lately I’ve been feeling that life is looking at me in the eyes, asking - So… What’s next?

I start fantasizing about the new possibilities of a new chapter but then life whispers:

- You have all those unfinished projects though…

I’m picking one amongst MANY projects to finish during the next years. Yes, y-e-a-r-s.

It’s a fairytale that I’m writing and drawing from scratch :^)

When I start a new creative project I don’t really think about how long it will take.
When reality strikes and I realize that things take tiiiiime, I often give up. I loose interest or I think it’s just not right or too ugly or too simple or too complex.

This is a project I will FINISH.
I can make a perfect project, next time.

This fairytale is about a fairy that lives in the woods.
She’s no bigger than a squirrel, even a squirrel might be too big compared to her…
She lives alone in a hole that she found empty in a big old tree.

The first thing you notice when looking at her it’s
her amazing wings…

Even though she’s often smiling and it’s super excited about things, she can get easily irritated…
This fairy moves fast and is always in a hurry.

This story is also about a kid…

A calm spirit that spends a lot of time in nature observing bugs.

The thing he likes the most is understanding the routines of animals and comparing them with his parents routines!

One day, because of his extreme curiosity, he accidentally destroys our fairy’s home…

This is the inciting incident that starts the adventure of these two completely different characters!

This is all I had just before giving up

I confess I feel lost about what to do next…

I will go with my gut and start with the characters

I want to show you as much of the process as I can but I don’t wish to make a very boring and extensive post about it :^)

So this is it for today.

On my next post I will show:

  • The exercises I did to create the personality of the characters

  • Drawings of the external features of the characters

  • Resources I used: books, videos and articles

Thank you for always reading my blog, I feel truly seen in here :^)
